So here I sit in the morning hours a few days before Christmas, skimming over the articles of interest.  Most of which when I think about it given the time of year that’s upon us are either trivial or just so self revolving of the poster it makes me want to turn my computer off and watch the news for a more positive message.

Despite my personal review of certain mentions, articles, tweets and posts two days before christmas I have to hand it to Tina Sloan.   With her blog post on the Huffington Post this morning I find myself afixed with a sense of melancholy given the whole of the article, but this is quickly overshadowed by the building feeling of anticipation for what’s coming in this new year.  Not just for myself but everyone.

One has to wonder for a moment where we would be if “the show which has been an emotional history of our country since 1937,” were still on and going strong.  Would our ‘Otalia’ Christmas and New Years be as equally rewarding or more so than the year prior(engagement mayhaps?)?  What about Company? Would it be all decked out for the holidays? Would we see Lillian & Buzz decorating their restaurant with the help of Beth, Phillip and the rest of the Spaulding clan?  Would we get happy news of a ‘baby on the way’ for ‘Bizzie’’s first Christmas together? Would we see Doris counting down to midnite on New Years alone before her maiden knight in shining armor (perhaps in the form of Blake?) rescues her with a flute of champagne and a kiss?   Would Rafe actually be a good man after a solid stint in basic?  Would Eleni make her way back to Frank and straighten his ass out for the rest of us?

Granted this is not without the scandal and intrigue and shock, horror horror of the events leading up to the moment of peace, rejoicing and happiness we’re not privy to this year.  Needless to say despite this lengthy recounting of what might’ve been, I find myself looking forward to what will be.  For that, in this moment I have to thank Tina Sloan; for giving me that pause enough to speculate this morning on the ‘coulda, shoulda,woulda’ of a Guiding Light Christmas.  While I have everyone else in my life as we look ahead, and for the excitement shared with them about what is to come.
